RON OLDHAM MEMORIAL

Ron Oldham, a surfer, diver, and long-time friend of the sculptor, died of cancer in 2008. His memorial service was off the coast of San Diego where sixty-five surfers paddled out on the sea and formed a circle. Richard asked Ron's son to place the bas-relief memorial bronze on an undersea ledge where Richard and Ron used to dive for abalone and lobster. Ron Oldham's spirit will be a part of the sea forever .
